Improving Edge Quality in Film Applications with Tangent Shear Slitting

Surface treating and then printing on film only to suffer poor slit edge quality at the end of the process can be very costly for converters. This paper looks at the causes of poor slit quality in razor slitting film applications and demonstrates how tangent shear slitting can significantly improve quality. The paper focuses specifically on correctly setting up the slitter table, blade profile selection, anvil spacing and the correct application of the six critical factors of shear slitting. Real world examples of improved edge quality in film applications will also be showcased.
