Increasing Web Throughput with Core and Roll Centering Shafts

Vibration due to eccentric roll or core position relative to the axis of a rotating shaft in the unwind or rewind position can result in converters running at less than optimal speeds for a given process. This paper presents the technology used to mechanically or pneumatically center a roll or core about the axis of a shaft and the correlating benefits of increased throughput and improved wound roll profile. The paper will compare the available technology on the market, review the principles at work in centering and provide real world examples of converter throughput improvements.
