New HDPE Resin Design May Offer Film Improvements

Material Advances and Their Benefits

The gauge for many film applications for food packaging is limited due to toughness or water vapor transmission rate (WVTR). New high density polyethylene (HDPE) resin development resulted in new products with improved mechanical characteristics. As a result, enhancements in these properties may allow for win-win opportunities of cost savings with better package performance for consumers. In addition, these benefits may give the potential for product substitution into new markets.
